The center is located in a neighborhood known for its architecture and history. Whether you’re catching up on your homework in the Plaza San Martin, or brushing up on history at the Recoleta Cemetery.
Sites visits are still in being finalized, but are are some of the options we might explore.
• Colon Theater Guided Tour - The Teatro Colón (Colón Theatre) in Buenos Aires is one of the most important opera houses in the world. Its rich and prestigious history and its exceptional acoustics and architectural features rank it among theatres such as Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Paris Opera House, the Vienna State Opera, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.
• Graffiti Tour - We explore the barrios of Colegiales, Chacarita, Villa Crespo and Palermo, neighbourhoods which feature a rich variety of art from leading local and international artists. While we visit amazing walls and take in examples of all the major styles, you will learn how the country’s history is connected to the movement, and how street art has evolved in Buenos Aires.
• Walking tour of Recoleta - As far as classic neighborhoods go, few can beat Buenos Aires’s Recoleta. While many might label it a place better reserved for buttoned-up, moneyed ladies who lunch, it’s surprisingly diverse, offering a wide array of experiences that the Argentine capital’s currently hip enclaves can’t match. It mixes fine dining with street food, fine arts with craft cocktails, and it is home to one of the world’s most oft-visited cemeteries.
We will travel from Buenos Aires to Santiago via a local airline such as LATAM Airlines, Sky Airlines, Aerolíneas del Sur or JetSmart. We will have final travel arrangements and details by the end of Spring semester.
Classes will be held in the IES Abroad Santiago Center which lies just east of San Cristobal Hill in Providencia: a vibrant, residential neighborhood in the center of Santiago. The Santiago Center is equipped with a student lounge, courtyard, and kitchen & dining area to enhance the student experience.
